Italy - September 2013

Visiting Bologna and Torino again, to see friends - with a few trips into the countryside as well.

My favourite street in Bologna - Strada Maggiore.		There always seems to be work in progress on the towers these days.
The baptistry in Firenze - with barriers in place for the World Championships cycle race.		One of the many Davids.
Ponte Vecchio with the usual horde of tourists. OK, we were there too!		We escaped the crush by going across the river and up into the Giardino di Boboli. There are some lovely drinking fountains.

We returned into the centre just as the cyclists were arriving.		The Castello Estense in Ferrara.
The Duomo - the portico shops are interesting. A plaque on the houses to the left states that Copernicus lived there during his stay in Ferrara.		Hill town in the Langhe where we had a rather good lunch.
Meow!		One of the lovely old churches seen on a trip into the hills north of Asti.
It's another old church.		Lovely carving though - even in the modern restauration.

Italy was lovely as always, though the weather could have been a bit warmer and sunnier.
